A Love of Baking, Over 35 Years in the Making

Hi, I’m Debi — the heart behind The Recipe Workshop.

Baking has been part of my life for more than three decades, beginning with chocolate chip cookies baked for my kids and eventually growing into years of professional baking, owning a bakery, and developing and refining recipes behind the scenes.

When I closed my bakery in 2020, I thought that chapter of my baking life might be finished. But baking has a funny way of finding its way back in.

Over time, I began creating again — testing recipes, developing ideas for clients and returning to the kind of baking I enjoyed most. What grew from that wasn’t another traditional bakery, but something that feels much more like me now.

The Bakeshoppe

Today, The Recipe Workshop is home to The Bakeshoppe — a changing collection of fresh bakes shared locally in Airdrie.

You’ll find weekly sampler menus, seasonal collections, familiar favourites, occasional throwbacks and new recipes that have made their way through my kitchen.

Some stay. Some return by popular request. Some may only appear once.

It gives me the freedom to keep creating while still baking with the same care and attention that have been part of my work for all these years.

Baking Is More Than Recipes

To me, baking has always been about more than what comes out of the oven.

It’s comfort, creativity and connection. It’s the familiar smell of cinnamon or butter baking, something made by hand sitting on the table, and the memories that somehow become attached to certain recipes.

That belief is still at the heart of everything I do here.
